Another email jam packed of information for you regarding Bye Bye Birdie! If you have questions, let me know!
From Avery (Your Costumer)
Costumes are coming along. We would like you to search your closets though to see if you have things we could use! I promise that if you bring something in for us to borrow, we will label it and you will get it back after the production. So, raid your closets, here is what we are looking for. Think GREASE.
Girls: peddler pushers (capri pants) in any color, keds, sweaters (cardigan types that button up), poodle skirts, 50s looking tops
Guys: straight leg jeans (501s, Wranglers, etc.), black/white converse
We have some items that need to be altered slightly (hemmed, pinned, taken in, embelshments added, etc.) If you can help us, please email Diana (reply to this email).
From Laura & Tanya
Please remember to come to rehearsal in appropriate clothes. Meaning, clothes & shoes you can dance in. Jeans & flip flops are not okay. Cast members must have their scripts, music book, pencil & highlighter every day; no matter WHO your character is.
Starting on Tuesday, 7/5, rehearsal will be from 6-10pm. With only a few weeks left until we open, we will be busy! Please bring a snack and water bottle. Parents, if you would like to send a snack to share, that is fine too. The cast is using alot of energy and they need calories to replace it!
Saturday 7/9 Rehearsal 10am until approx 3pm. End time is a little up in the air at this point, details later in the week. But, cast members: bring lunch, drinks & snacks.
Sunday 7/10: The cast has been invited to preform that the Renton Car Show. While this is not required, we would like all cast members to come join us! Please let Tanya know at Tuesday's rehearsal if you can come. We also need parents/siblings to join us to help pass out flyers! If you want to come, please email Diana (me) asap! It will be a fun day. Details on time and location to come later this week. Our performance time is approx 1pm, but, we will meet earlier.
From Diana (Prop Person & Volunteer Coordinator)
Work Party Wed 7/6: We are having our first work party to start painting and creating from things for the show on Wed 7/6 at Renton Civic Theater 12-4. Show up when you can. Wear clothes you can paint in. Parents, siblings and friends welcome! We will be painting signs, receivers and some other things. Bring brushes of all sizes & paint if you have some! I would love adults to join us, as we have some labeling & organizing of costumes to do!
Gold Key: I am looking for someone who has the skills to make a prop "key to the city". Whether our of PVC, strofoam, wood, whatever. If you are creative and want to make this, let me know.
Parade: The Renton River Days Parade is on 7/23 & it is tradition that the cast participates. Last year, the cast won first place (even though we didn't have a float! The cast had so much energy and danced and sang so great, the judges loved them!) So, we have to defend that title! In brainstorming, we were thinking it would be super cool if we could have a classic car ride with us! So, do you have a 50s or 60s (okay, or a really cool 70s) car that you want to show off? Let me know asap! And, save the date! As we will need parents to walk with us & hand our flyers!
Tshirts: Our Tshirts have been designed and are being printed. All cast members will receive one. Parents: if you would like one, please email me and give me your size. The charge will be $15, if you get it before 7/17. After that, the price will be $20. If you would like it in time for the car show on Sunday the 10th, I need your size by Tuesday 7/5 10am. After that I can't guarantee, but will try!
